What are the differences between different formats of flash drive?

The common formats of USB flash drives are FAT32, NTFS and ExFAT. These three formats have different storage specifications and characteristics in the system, and there are subtle differences in the process of use. Therefore, choose  which format depends on the use! Following is the information about the difference in the format of the USB.

     1、FAT32

  • Advantage: Better compatibility

  • Disadvantage: Cannot store the single file larger than 4G

   2、NTFS

  • Advantages: Good compatibility; Can support the transmission of files from 4G to 2T, it also has obvious          advantages in transmission speed.

  • Disadvantage: Will shorten the life of flash drive

  3、ExFAT

  •  Advantages: Specially designed for USB flash drives, with little waste of USB‘s memory

  •  Disadvantages: Compatibility is relatively poor, under XP and Vista systems need to update the patch to          support.

Note: If you need to store a single file larger than 4G, you need to change the USB disk format to NTFS or ExFAT format, but this way will shorten the life of the USB, also many computers will not automatically update the patch, so it cannot support ExFAT format. In short, the three formats have their own advantages and disadvantages. However, the price of USB flash drives on the market is relatively affordable. To facilitate the use of USB flash drives, recommend to convert the USB flash drive format to NTFS.
